Missions and Outreach
At College Grove Methodist Church, missions are an expression of our faith in action. We seek to love God and serve our neighbors—locally and globally—by meeting practical needs, building relationships, and sharing the hope of Christ. The following ministries reflect our commitment to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond.
Community Food Pantry
One of the primary ways CGMC serves our neighbors is through the College Grove Community Food Pantry, which is housed in and administered by the church. Food is distributed every Saturday from 9:15–10:30 a.m., and all are welcome to receive food.
This ministry is made possible through the faithful support of community churches, volunteers, area schools, and local organizations who give of their time and resources by shopping, shelving, packing food boxes, donating food items, and contributing financially.
CGMC is deeply grateful for our pantry partners: College Grove Baptist Church, Bethesda United Methodist Women, Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Triune Baptist Church, Wesley Chapel UMC, the Lion’s Club, FiftyForward, Darrell Waltrip Drive Away Hunger, Sysco, and the many individual volunteers and donors who support this vital ministry.
Recovery Ministries
CGMC is honored to host Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Al-Anon meetings as part of our commitment to healing and wholeness within the community.
Open AA meetings are available to anyone interested in the program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics are welcome to attend open meetings as observers. AA meetings are held in the annex behind the church on:
- Tuesdays, 6:00–7:00 p.m.
- Thursdays, 6:00–7:00 a.m.
- Thursdays, 12:00–1:00 p.m.
Al-Anon meetings are held on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the lower room of the main church building and are open to those affected by a loved one’s alcoholism.
The Hands of Christ, Inc.
CGMC supports The Hands of Christ, Inc., a global mission that exists to share God’s love by offering low-cost medical care with dignity and gentleness to the poor of Honduras. Dr. Ana and John Lamon travel regularly to rural areas, partnering with local churches to host medical clinics and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Over the past 15 years, these missions have provided care to more than 7,000 patients each year, with hundreds coming to know the Lord as their personal Savior through this ministry. The Hands of Christ operates entirely through donations and volunteer services. Those interested can learn more and support this mission through online giving.
Seeds of Hope
Seeds of Hope is a CGMC local mission dedicated to helping neighbors and community members with small home repair projects. This ministry focuses on practical assistance such as building ramps, repairing driveways, and addressing basic indoor repairs. Through Seeds of Hope, volunteers offer compassion, dignity, and tangible help that allows individuals and families to remain safe and secure in their homes.
